Follow the procedure below to lock the mTAP Hub into Kiosk mode and enable Fastboot (Boot the Hub on charger connection - Without pressing the Power button)

Step 1 : Configure Hub in Developer Mode

This step is mandatory to connect the Hub with your PC/Mac

  1. Go to Android Settings
  2. Scroll to the end and tap About phone

  3. Scroll down and tap 7 times on the Build number
  4. You will see a message that You are now a developer
  5. Tap back button next to About phone header
  6. Tap System -> { } Developer options

       

  7. Scroll down under Developer options and enable USB debugging

    2 popups will display asking you to Allow the USB connections,check the box in the second popup and accept both.

    The MTAP Hub is now ready to connect to the Laptop

Step 2: Download the Setup script


  • Option A : If your MTAP hub is already upgraded to the latest available version (3.1 or newer) and you just want to enable the Kiosk + Fast boot , then download the following zip file:

  • Option B: If your MTAP hub is running an older software and you want to upgrade and enable Kiosk + Fast boot, then download the following zip file:

  • Unzip the file after downloading to your laptop

Step 3: Connect MTAP hub to the laptop


Connect your HUB with your Computer/laptop (Please note that you do not need any special cable to connect your HUB you can use a regular USB-C Cable to connect your HUB with your computer/laptop .


Step 4: Run the script


  • Go to the unzipped folder on your laptop
  • Go to the folder according to your laptop operating system:
    • Win -> If you are running on a Windows laptop
    • Mac -> Id you are running on a Macbook
  • Depending on the Option A or Option B , the folder contents will be different.
Option A (Kiosk + Fastboot mode activation):
  • The files will look like below
  • Double click on the file named lock_mtap_win.bat (Windows) or lock_mtap_mac.command (Mac)

  • The script will start to execute and the Terminal window will show the following output
  • Your MTAP hub will reboot twice during the process. This is normal.
  • Make sure the script output is Same as below.
  • If you see an error, copy it and send to MOHID support for further assistance

Option B (Upgrade + Kiosk + Fastboot mode activation):
  • The files will look like below
  • Double click on the file named install_lock_mtap_win.bat (Windows) or install_lock_mtap_mac.command (Mac)

  • The script will start to execute and the Terminal window will show the following output
  • Your MTAP hub will reboot twice during the process. This is normal.
  • Make sure the script output is Same as below.
  • If you see an error, copy it and send to MOHID support for further assistance

The MTAP hub is now successfully configured to run in the Kiosk Mode.In case if the power has been disconnected and the Hub runs out of battery, just replugging the charger will boot up the MTAP hub without a need to manually press the Power button.


Troubleshooting:


  1. If the script gets stuck in the first step "Waiting for Phone" and never goes to Fastboot screen: Unplug and replug the USB cable
  2. If the phone goes to Fastboot screen (Grey Screen saying Fastboot Menu at the bottom), and stays there, not doing anything : Press the power button for 15 seconds to reboot the phone.
  3. If any other error is printed on the script output, copy and send it to MOHID Support team for further troubleshooting.
